EASY WAYS TO HAVE AN IMPACT

VICTORIES ACCOMPLISHED

When we work together as activists, WE WIN.

Thanks to a wave of victories for progressive activists in states around the U.S., the daily lives of millions of Americans will continue to be improved, as long as we continue working for our essential, progressive goals.

Democratic candidates won key midterm races for the Pennsylvania Senate and by Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, as well as with a wave of statewide citizen-led ballot initiatives, including increasing the minimum wage, codification of abortion and contraceptive rights, and strengthening voting rights.

Insistence on protecting the right to avoid forced birth drove many Americans to vote after Roe v. Wade was struck down by corrupt MAGA-partisan justices on the Supreme Court.  Abortion rights activists won crucial cases in five U.S. states, with voters in Vermont, California, Michigan enshrining the right to abortion in their state constitutions.

In Michigan, Democratic groups won a ballot initiative known as Proposal 3, months before the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling.  Proposal 3 enshrined not only the right to an abortion but the general right of “reproductive freedom”.  It even outperformed the reelection victory of Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who won against election-denier Tudor Dixon by eleven percentage points.

Michigan voters also expanded voting rights with early voting, the right to provisionally vote without an ID, and they authorized ballot drop boxes.

In Washington, D.C., the Initiative 82 grassroots campaign was able to raise the minimum wage for tipped employees, with an amazing 47 point margin of victory, despite restaurant industry opposition.

FUTURE VICTORIES THANKS TO YOUR WORK!

Ballot measure campaigns are already underway in anticipation of the 2024 election. In California, activists want to raise the minimum wage statewide to a living wage of $18/hour. In Nevada, voters may have a chance to support a ranked-choice system similar to the one recently enacted in Alaska.

There are numerous opportunities for activists to win on impactful issues, including school board, judges and other local elections, Senate and House elections, statewide special elections, and by supporting progressive political goals such as expanding the Supreme Court.

When we work together, we have the power to significantly improve the daily lives of the majority of people in America.
