New revelations of Justice Clarence Thomas’ corruption and failures to live up to his disclosure obligations keep coming, with ProPublica reporting Nazi memorabilia-collecting billionaire Harlan Crow also bought Thomas’ mother’s home and continued to allow her to live there without Thomas ever disclosing it and the Washington Post finding Thomas has been reporting income from a long-defunct real estate firm instead of the company from which he is actually profiting. Let’s contact our senators to reiterate our demands for a full and public Senate Judiciary Committee investigation of his potential wrongdoing, and let’s join Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Rep. Hank Johnson in calling on the Justice Department to look into whether Justice Thomas has violated the Ethics in Government Act of 1978. - PROTECT HOMELAND SECURITY FROM MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE
In the wake of the revelation that the “Discord Leaker” was a young man with a history of racist and antisemitic remarks and his subsequent arrest, leading right wingers rallied to his defense and praised him for sharing classified information with the world. This group included Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump Jr., and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, leading to renewed questions about why the “national divorce” advocate maintains her position on the Homeland Security Committee. Let’s contact our members of Congress and push them to a) renew efforts to remove Rep. Taylor Greene from this crucial position as she clearly cannot be trusted with classified information and b) work for a formal congressional censure of Marjorie Taylor Greene for her defense of someone who threatened our national security.

A 16-year-old Black boy named Ralph Yarl was attacked on Thursday, shot in the head twice by a white man after ringing the doorbell of the wrong home while trying to pick up his younger twin brothers. The man who attempted to kill him was taken to police headquarters to provide a statement and then released without charge. Let’s join community advocates in contacting Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson to push for an immediate arrest and appropriate charges – Thompson’s office can be reached by phone at 816-736-8300 or via email at prosecutor@claycopa.com. If we’re able, we can also consider a donation to his family’s GoFundMe to help pay for Ralph’s medical bills.
- SUPPORT GENDER NEUTRAL BATHROOMS IN SCHOOLSWhile many states are contributing to notching up the trans teen suicide rate by passing laws prohibiting gender affirming care and other transphobic bills, Massachusetts has recently introduced H3019/S1978, a bill that would change state regulations to allow for multi-stall gender neutral bathrooms in public buildings. This would be especially helpful for trans and nonbinary students who are now forced to wait on long lines for one-holers or use bathrooms that don’t align with their gender identity. If we live in Massachusetts, let’s tell our legislators to support this bill. If we live in another trans-friendly blue state, let’s ask our state legislators to introduce and pass similar legislation.

- END CORPORATE PERSONHOODRep. Pramila Jayapal has introduced the We the People Amendment (HJR 54), which would end the concept of “corporate personhood” and limit the financial and lobbying roles corporations currently have in politics since the 5-4 Supreme Court in Citizens United in 2010 that gave corporations First Amendment rights. Organizers are now trying to get 100 co-sponsors on board in 2023, so let’s contact our members of Congress and ask them to support this important resolution.
