House Bill 741
2023 Proposed Local Legislation
The Rockdale County Democratic Committee (RCDC) opposes House Bill 741 as it is currently written.
We request a NO VOTE on HB 741 for the 2023 session.
Here are the four primary areas of concern with the HB 741 as currently written:
- Candidates for County Commissioner should;
- Qualify;
- Run for Office;
- Be Elected; and
- Serve Countywide. WE DO NOT SUPPORT DISTRICTS!
- A County Manager form of government as outlined in this bill gives too much authority to the county manager’s role without the Board of Commissioners’ oversight.
- The creation of the Ethics Board as written in this bill will cause the County to raise taxes to pay for the cost.
- The Chairperson of the Board of Commissoners should be elected by the residents of Rockdale County and not by the Board of Commissioners.
