- SUPPORTING WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN’S EFFORTS FOR UKRAINE
Since soon after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the World Central Kitchen (WCK) showed up to provide food for people fleeing their homes. WCK has stayed in the Ukraine for the entire year, as well as organized chefs throughout eastern Europe to provide food kits to refugees, residents of areas in direct conflict, and people in newly liberated cities. - MORE SANCTIONS NEEDED AGAINST RUSSIA
Last Monday, to commemorate the first anniversary of the Ukraine War, President Biden made a secret trip to meet with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv. It was a first for a US president to go to a warzone without US military presence. “The misery of 365 days of bloodshed and the full scale of the global repercussions are difficult to sum up with mere words. Russia is more isolated than at any time since the Cold War. Western nations are banding together for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s defeat while also gambling that the ex-KGB spy won’t go nuclear.” And now, Putin has threatened nuclear stability and has seriously endangered the healthcare system in Ukraine. The European Union is on track to impose more sanctions on Russia. While the US has also adopted sanctions, let’s tell our MoCs that, like the EU, it is time for us to impose even more sanctions.

While a noisy minority on the far right has pushed hard for the United States to abandon Ukraine, there is still a bipartisan consensus that we need to stand with our allies. A recent Fox News poll found 63% of registered voters still support sending money to Ukraine, and 64% want to keep sending weapons. That includes 51/55% of Republicans and and 55/56% of Independents, and represents a slight uptick in support from six months before. Let’s contact the White House and tell them we appreciate their steadfast stand for Ukraine and want to see it continue, and let’s let our members of Congress (especially the Republicans) know that even Fox News agrees America is saying #SlavaUkraini. - WHY UKRAINE STILL MATTERS
There is no question that the war in Ukraine has had a significant impact on the world.
