We who work at Swap Meet Justice, our citizenship and social justice fair, know how long and hard people work for the right to speak out in our elections as full American citizens.

The POSTCARD BRIGADE IS GEARING UP for the WARNOCK/WALKER fight!
Studies have shown that receiving a colorful postcard with a short punchy message is the most effective way to persuade a voter to get to the polls.
One of Indivisible Ventura’s members is working with Postcards to Swing States (PSS) to coordinate GOTV postcarding focused on Senate races in swing states. PSS identifies the campaigns, writes the message, and provides the voter names and addresses.

- How many cards do you want, in multiples of 25? (25 minimum, 50, 75, 100, etc…)
- Can you provide your own stamps or do you need assistance?
- Can you collect them at her address in Ventura or will she need to snail-mail them to you

On Thursday, Nov. 10, the CA Dept. of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) will be present to hear concerns and answer questions from 5-7pm by ZOOM .

- (DPR) “In addition, the department invites the public to submit written feedback on the county-led notification pilot projects for the UC Davis Center for Regional Change to incorporate into its independent evaluation of the pilot projects. - (DPR) “California will be the first state in the nation to develop a system of this scale to provide the public more transparent and equitable access to information in advance of pesticide applications. DPR began developing the statewide notification system in mid-2021, after the state budgeted $10 million to DPR for system development. The department partnered with four County Agricultural Commissioners to conduct pilot projects in communities within Riverside, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus and Ventura counties to inform the continued development of the statewide system.”
Californians for Pesticide Reform (CPR) has put together a flyer with information about the meetings and the demands to improve the notification system. This issue affects the health of all of the people in our community, particularly children, elderly, low income communities, and farmworkers. The current notification system has serious shortcomings, which puts these people at serious health risks and is preventable if the CA Dept of Pesticide Regulation listens to the CPR’s demands and improves their current pilot notification system!
