GOVERNOR WHITMER ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Governor Whitmer is willing to sit down with anyone to get things done. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together and has signed over 900 bipartisan bills.
- She made the largest investment in K-12 education in our state’s history without raising taxes, turned a projected $3 billion deficit into a $7 billion surplus, cut taxes for small business owners, and provided over $400 million to local businesses to support and retain jobs.
- Whitmer is reversing decades of disinvestment from our infrastructure and moving dirt to fix the damn roads. She has already repaired over 13,000 lane miles and more than 900 bridges, while supporting over 80,000 good paying jobs.
- Governor Whitmer has secured 25,000 new auto jobs. Thanks to her leadership, the future of auto manufacturing will be made in Michigan, by Michigan workers.
- Whitmer helped enroll 35,000 four-year-olds in high-quality pre-K and brought affordable child care to 105,000 more children.
- The Governor has put 170,000 Michiganders and counting on a path to good-paying jobs with tuition-free skills training and higher education programs.
- And she is putting more money back in the pockets of Michiganders with $400 refund checks for every driver in the state.
- Governor Whitmer is delivering on the fundamentals, creating opportunity, and improving people’s lives.
TUDOR DIXON
- Tudor Dixon has made it clear she will drag Michigan backwards.
- From stripping Michiganders of their fundamental rights to slashing funding for public education, Dixon’s plans for Michigan would reverse meaningful progress and make things more difficult for hardworking families.
- Dixon is a strong supporter of the extreme 1931 abortion ban that provides no exceptions for rape or incest and would throw nurses and doctors in jail for providing critical care to Michigan women.
- Dixon has pledged to enact an abortion ban that make no exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother.
- Recently, Dixon called a hypothetical 14-year-old victim of abuse a “perfect example” of why abortion should be banned.
- Dixon has been endorsed by the radical Susan B. Anthony List – a group that has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on her behalf – whose explicit mission is to “end abortion.”
- Dixon would implement a DeVos-style agenda to dismantle public education by slashing billions from schools, and rewriting Michigan’s constitution to implement a radical voucher plan to send taxpayer dollars to private schools.
- She has also pledged to enact a budget plan that would cut funding from critical public services and reverse progress on infrastructure projects that have strengthened communities across our state. She called the bipartisan federal infrastructure package “fake.”
- Dixon would fight against efforts to bring new, good-paying jobs to Michigan and has said she does not support the massive job-creating $7 billion dollar deal with GM that will bring thousands of good-paying jobs to Michigan.
- Dixon also championed the Ambassador Bridge blockade that caused the auto industry to suffer almost $300 million in direct losses and resulted in workers weathering up to $51 million in lost wages.
- and spread countless conspiracy theories that undermine our democratic institutions. Despite over 250 audits backing up the results of the 2020 election in Michigan, she has claimed the election was stolen thanks to “sloppy” and “obvious” fraud.
- Dixon’s agenda is wrong for Michigan women, children, and families.

The WCDP will hold an Endorsement Meeting on Monday, August 15th at 6:00 p.m. This is when we choose the candidates to endorse for the November 2022 General Election.
Pre-registration is required (see below) and will close at 5:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
In order to participate, you must have been a member of the Michigan Democratic Party for at least 30 days (by no later than July 16th). This 30-day requirement is waived for Precinct Delegates and Democratic elected officials but they must become a member no later than 5:30 p.m. on August 15th and send proof of their membership by forwarding their email receipt to info@washtenawdems.org.
When you pre-register, we will check your eligibility before sending the meeting link. Help us all and pre-register early (not on the last day!) to avoid delaying things on August 15th.

Unity Picnic
Tuesday, August 16 @ 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This year’s Democratic primary was feisty and competitive as is so often the case in Washtenaw County and even more so after the recent redistricting. Now that the dust has settled and we have our nominees, it is time for Democrats to pull together in a show of unity and determination.
Please join the Washtenaw County Democratic Party (WCDP), Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and other special guests at a Unity Picnic on Tuesday, August 16th from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at Pavilion B at Island Park in Ann Arbor.
We will have multiple speakers and a boxed dinner will be generously provided by Congresswoman Dingell.
Please bring a lawn chair if you have one, seating will be limited at the park. We also highly recommend wearing a mask when not eating/drinking.
