We All Have to Act Now to Save Our Democracy!

We Have to Act Now!

Call Senators Shatz and Hirono
Daily

From Today Thru Monday!

Senator Schumer has announced that he will move to open up debate on or before Monday, Martin Luther King Day, Jan 17 for these acts:
The Freedom to Vote Act
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act
AND likely voting on changes or elimination of the Filibuster Rule

Call the Senate: 833-345-2551

The U.S. Senate must pass the Freedom to Vote Act, landmark legislation that will protect our right to vote, end partisan gerrymandering, and decrease the power of big moneyed special interests.

If we are ever going to see progress on the issues we care about, we must have a democracy that responds to the needs and priorities of voters – not wealthy donors and corporate interests.

The U.S. House passed the voting rights legislation in March, and now the U.S. Senate must swiftly pass the Freedom to Vote Act.

UPDATE TO PROCESS – 1/12/2022
The Senate has identified a way to prevent Republicans from blocking debate on the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This morning (11/12) the House sent the Senate a new bill (the Freedom To Vote: John R. Lewis Act) containing both pieces of legislation in a maneuver that allows debate to begin with only a simple majority. In the coming days, we will see vigorous Senate debate on these bills that will culminate in a vote to change the rules to pass the bill. At this time, we know that Senators Manchin and Sinema are still loathe to filibuster reform, but the pressure is building.
