What Is S1 – the For the People Act? The For the People Act was passed as HR1 in the House and is now before the Senate as S1. The bill removes barriers that prevent people from voting — or registering to vote. It makes districting fair and ensures campaign financing is transparent.

For Democracy: Learn & Act
In its new guide for 2021, Indivisible writes, “In order to pass health care, environmental, immigration, economic, and social policies that we want to see, we need a democracy that actually reflects the will of all its people.”

Sign Petition: Restore Voting Rights, Whatever It Takes
From Indivisible Chicago Alliance: Help keep the pressure on Senators Durbin and Duckworth to pass the most sweeping voter protection package since the 1960s. S.1 (“For the People”) protects the right of every American to cast their vote, starting with the critical 2022 election.

Add your name to this petition to let our Senators know you expect them to lead the fight to overcome Republican suppression tactics and protect your vote now! Read and sign here.

Senators Durbin and Duckworth: your leadership is critical.

Pass S.1 now, whatever it takes.

As your constituents, we are calling for the immediate passage of the democracy reform legislation, S.1, the For the People Act, to return power to all American voters.

H.R.1 will protect voting rights, end the dominance of big money in politics and fight corruption in our government. Along with the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act (H.R.4) and D.C. statehood bill, this legislation is urgently needed to combat the efforts of those who sought to overturn the 2020 election results, inflamed the January 6 insurrectionists and have introduced more than 250 voter suppression measures in 43 states. They say the quiet part out loud, affirming their goal to do whatever it takes to limit votes that would be cast against them. Without the protections of S.1, states will limit voters’ access to register and cast their vote with the singular goal of stifling the will of the people. This tyranny of the minority can destroy our democracy if you don’t stop it now.

We sign this petition calling on you to declare your commitment to passing S.1, whatever it takes–even if it means ending the filibuster. Our democracy depends on the passage of this bill, and we’re counting on you to get it done.
