Call for Action – Save the Dells!

URGENT CALL TO ACTION!
from SAVE THE DELLS
Prescott City Council moving to BLOW UP the AED Dells deal!

Let’s march on City Hall and DEMAND a NO VOTE!
Prescott City Hall, Tuesday 11/10/2020 @ 1PM

At a 1pm Study Session this Tuesday, Prescott’s City Council will consider providing water to unannexed land in Yavapai County. The agenda shows a vote at 3pm. This policy change will effectively destroy any bargaining power the city has with Arizona Eco Development. If you want to save the Dells, you must come out and urge City Council to reconsider this massive giveaway. This decision must wait until after the AED deal is complete.

The Dells is iconic to this entire region – it  doesn’t matter where you live – show up, write!

If this policy change passes, it’s probably GAME OVER for everything we’ve accomplished, and it will take all of the power out of citizen-passed Proposition 400. Our hunch is that AED will follow Stringfield Ranch’s example and pull out of negotiations with the City and develop in the County with City water.

We know you’re tired and the election has you worn out. That’s the City’s plan, to sneak this through when you’re distracted. Say NO to this sinister scheme!

11/10/2020 – 1pm – Prescott City Hall – 201 S. Cortez Street
Protest Prescott’s Elimination of Public Participation!
In addition to joining this protest, please email:
Mayor greg.mengarelli@prescott-az.gov
City Manager michael.lamar@prescott-az.gov
Attorney jon.paladini@prescott-az.gov

DEMAND they not throw away their most powerful bargaining chip with AED!

Come out! Wear a mask! Flood the streets! Fill City Hall to capacity!

Prescott’s developer-friendly council majority wants to eliminate the public participation requirements of Proposition 400 and provide water to big developers in Yavapai County without any citizen oversight.

If this passes, the City can provide water to AED without them having to protect the cherished 500 acres in the Dells we’ve fought so hard for. This is the City’s end-game, to cut your input out of Prescott’s future!.

To add insult to injury, they’re rushing this vote during the last week of the AED 60-day comment period required by Prop 400!

The 2015 General Plan specifies a growth boundary. But with this new ordinance, the City is adding 11 square miles more land without amending the General Plan!  Why does this matter to Save the Dells? Because AED’s South Annexation in the Dells is identified as county land to get city water! And even worse, the City is proposing delivering water to City open space, suggesting their long-term plan is to develop our park lands!

The meeting agenda and Zoom link is posted here.

See Item 10.E: “Adoption of Ordinance No. 2020-1734 and Resolution No. 2020-1761, Amending City Code Related to Water Services Outside of City Limits.”

The proposed ordinance provides for water service to areas outside City limits in jurisdictions that do not have authority to provide water service, namely in unincorporated Yavapai County. That includes THOUSANDS OF ACRES in our proposed Regional Park and Preserve!
