Candidate Name:

Stephen Kurant

What office are you running for?

State Representative, 55th District

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

August 4th, 2020

Why are you running for office?

I’m running for office because I believe we need politicians that serve the people, we don’t need politicians who only run for office to further their own careers.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Inequality. I live in a great community that has done a lot to address the issue but more can be done to help those most affected. We must examine the systems of government and root out those systems and practices that adversely affect specific populations.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

I think its fair to say that no one person will agree on everything with any other person, and recognizing that fact must be the starting point for any conversation on how to move forward. We should be able to respect each other’s opinion and talk about what we believe in, only then can we reach a real solution to any problem.

Who is your hero?

I don’t have one hero, there are so many people who deserve that title. I respect people who stand up for what they believe in and help others however they are able.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy learning new things and watching documentaries, I also enjoy playing video games and doing research.

What is the most recent book you read?

Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

I do indeed have a couple pets, they keep me on my toes and make sure I’m awake when I need to be!

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?

Send me an email, follow me on Twitter, or subscribe for updates on my website. I’m always willing to connect and help people get involved!

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?

I think there need to be more questions about honesty and transparency in government. We need to hold politicians and government officials accountable for what happens to our well being and how our tax dollars are being spent.
