Candidate Name:

Kristin Graziano

What office are you running for?

Sheriff of Charleston County

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

November 3, 2020

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

One very big issue in our community is the lack of trust in our local police. I’m a bridge builder. I intend on bringing our community back into Policing. It is my goal to get police out of their vehicles, off their computers and phones, and into the communities they serve. They will be given the ability to make decisions within those communities to solve problems, to mentor the youth, and to become a member of that community. Our communities will be policed by members representative of the community they serve.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

The partisan divide is as deep as the racial tension our country is experiencing. Money is the root of all evil, so is too much power. The answer is pretty simple: Mandate term limits for every office and limit special lobbying and pact money that heavily influences party agenda. Campaign finance reform is essential with strict oversight. I also believe personal funds from a candidate should be limited. if we stop allowing people to buy their way into office to promote self-interest, politics would not be as lucrative- it truly would be for those who want to serve. Pay them a teachers salary and benefits and we will have no problem getting them out.

Who is your hero?

I don’t have Hero’s, I just have people that inspire me and that list is endless

What are your hobbies?

I love to travel, play sports, coach rugby, cycling, exercise, beach, boating and fishing. Occasionally I’ll do parkour with the goats or try to jump on a wild donkey without getting kicked. I’m a bit of a thrill seeker .

What is the most recent book you read?

A Thousand Splendid Suns

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

I have 2 sons-both in college now, a shi-tzu named Isabella and a pet Zebra rug named Zachary-but not green thumb

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?

check out my website, email me, sign up, invite me over! I love people and I’m really tired of zoom, but I’ll zoom if I must!

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?

What is a fun fact about you that nobody really knows- I was the youngest girl 1st Mate on the Chesapeake Bay working on fishing boats in the early 80’s and a NBC News did a story on our boat when “high rollers” were circle netting fish for profit and ruining the fishing grounds for sport. I was featured on that story because I was skilled with a gaff and could catch and release Big Blues without hurting them and show the trauma from the gill nets. I could also clean and filet fish faster and better than most and was paid very well for that skill. I discovered a special “cut” in the cheek of the fish, it looked like a giant scallop) and fed myself for years because people thought I was saving it for crab bait…but its still my secret.
