Candidate Name:

Adam Christensen

What office are you running for?

Congressional Representative – D3

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

August 18 Primary – November 18 General

Why are you running for office?

I made the choice to run for office because for too long elected officials have only represented the wealthy and the elite. Our democracy is not functioning the way it was meant to, and it is essential that we return democratic and economic power to the people themselves. I am tired of politicians only representing their corporate donors; we need someone in Washington that will act as a representative of the people, not of big businesses. I am running my campaign on ideas like universal healthcare and childcare, middle-class tax cuts, and a Green New Deal that revolutionizes both our environment and our economy. I am fighting for these things simply because every American needs them. We cannot call ourselves the greatest country in the world if we continue to marginalize the needs of everyday people. We have seen our government ignore large portions of our communities for too long. This has had devastating effects on our economy, our citizens, and our environment. I am creating a movement here in North Central Florida that is about much more than myself. It is about ensuring that EVERY American family is represented in Congress. My campaign is for the many, not just me.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Currently, the biggest issue we face is the fact that a large percentage of our community doesn’t have healthcare in a Pandemic. We need to make sure that everyone is covered because if one person doesn’t have healthcare everyone is at risk.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

We need to start putting small and family businesses first, instead of corporations. The first Progressives were Republicans who believed that monopolies were killing capitalism (1890’s). Both Democrats and Republicans need to stand up fight against corporate cartels and for the American economic system.

Who is your hero?

My Grandfather – He has been a farmer in rural Iowa for 60+ years. He lost a thumb to a tractor chain, had a tractor fall over on him breaking his back and putting him in a full body cast for a year and lost everything and had to restart multiple times. Through everything he raised 4 children, was married to my grandmother for 64 years, and is still out on the farm 4 days a week despite retiring 15 years ago. He is 84 years old, a veteran, and still going strong. He is a hero to me and everyone else in my family.

What are your hobbies?

I coach highschool soccer at Oak Hall HS in Gainesville Fl.

What is the most recent book you read?

The Fifth Risk – Michael Lewis

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

I have a 2 year old Pomsky named Pummel.
