What office are you running for?
State Representative, District 105
With which party are you running for office?
Why are you running for office?
My background and experience as an attorney defending the rights of vulnerable populations has prepared me to serve the people of Florida. Through my work, I have fought against human rights violations and due process violations. I have challenged policy proposals that hurt families and that are clearly unlawful. While defending cases and arguing against harmful policies, I realized that the best way to fight these policies is to never allow them to become policy in the first place. To do that, we need legislators and elected officials that will safeguard our individual rights and prioritize the needs of our communities. That is why I am running for office. After serving and protecting my clients and their families for over eleven years, I am now ready to serve my entire community. As a legislator, I will continue to prioritize the needs of the community and bring a voice to the many issues that have been ignored and neglected.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
I believe that the number one issue facing my community and the legislature is lack of representation and diversity. This has led to legislation that discriminates, oppresses, ignores, and dismisses specific groups of people in our community. Many of our elected officials have refused to pass legislation that will recognize and ensure equal protection and rights for certain groups, including women, minorities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. These same elected officials have passed unconstitutional legislation that restricts reproductive rights and legislation that ignores and dismisses the working class, unions, and teachers. Simply put, profits have been placed above human rights and environmental protections. As a legislator, I will bring a voice to all these groups that have been ignored and I will place the needs of our communities above those of special interest groups.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We approach all issues with an open mind and with the goal of working together.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
What makes you the most qualified candidate for the office that you are seeking? As an attorney, I am uniquely trained in reading, writing, analyzing laws. I received relevant training that will be transferred into my work as a legislator, including oral and written advocacy; research; analyzing statutes and laws; and building relationships and rapport. My leadership skills and experience will also be transferred. As Managing Attorney and Director of Immigration Legal Services for a non-profit organization, I oversee nine legal departments in six different states; manage and train staff; set staffing levels; create and review budgets; write and review grants; and create and negotiate contracts. My dedication of eleven years to serving families and vulnerable populations in my community will also demonstrate my commitment to prioritizing the needs and best interests of our communities.
