Candidate Name:

Julie Jenkins

What office are you running for?

State Representative, House District 60

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

November 3, 2020

Why are you running for office?

I’m running for office because I want to ensure the safety, health and prosperity of my community. I believe in expanding Medicaid to save lives. I believe in common sense gun reform to save lives. I believe that we should protect our air and water of Florida because that drives our economy. I believe we should ensure our kids a quality education because their and ours depends on it. I want to see all kids succeed. I’m running for my kids and my community’s kids.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Right now the biggest issue is health care. I believe we can start be expanding Medicaid because our taxes have already paid into it. It can save lives and protect people during this pandemic. It can also save our economy and put people back to work if we solve our public health crisis.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

It all starts with one thing: democracy. Voting Rights, gerrymandering and big money out of politics. We need to ensure that everyone can vote. We need to ensure fair districts so politicians are accountable to the average voter. We need to take big money out of politics so people have the power.

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

2 kids — Sam and Max — and to dogs — Johnny Cash, the pug and Mika, the husky
