Christina Finello

House of Representatives, PA-01
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
November 3, 2020
Why are you running for office?
When I was 6 months pregnant with my first child, I switched insurance providers and was told I may not be able to get coverage because my pregnancy was considered a “pre-existing condition.” After fighting for my own coverage, our newborn daughter, Katie, required an expensive surgery. Instead of being able to focus all of my energy on her recovery, I was on the phone pleading with insurance companies to cover the cost of her necessary care. I had my second child while both of my parents were in the hospital for surgeries. If my family did not have access to quality insurance, we would have been devastated financially. Our family’s experience is unfortunately not unique. I want to fix our broken systems, whether that be by ensuring veterans have access to quality care or improving outcomes for people struggling with substance abuse and mental health. Families in our district are forced to choose between paying for necessary health care, paying off student loan debt, or putting food on the table. I know this because I have lived it. I’m running for Congress because Washington is broken, and we can’t change our politics until we change the people we send there. I’m determined to go to Washington to find real solutions for our problems and to fight for our district’s families every day.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The financial crisis caused by this pandemic is the biggest issue our community currently faces. If I were in Washington, I would ensure that Congress passes additional stimulus funding to get out monthly stimulus checks to struggling folks, so they get the help they deserve from their government.
