Candidate Name:

Jose Santiago

What office are you running for?

NC State Senate – District 35

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

11/3/20

Why are you running for office?

To defeat Donald Trump, expand Medicaid, raise the minimum wage, pass common sense gun legislation, increase education spending and end gerrymandering.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

The biggest issue is the severe job losses relating the COVID-19 pandemic, and the best way to improve the situation is by removing Trump and his supporters and putting in their place capable leaders who will look out for the people. We must also expand Medicaid to provide health care coverage to the hundreds of thousands of newly unemployed, and increase the funds paid by unemployment compensation.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

Democrats have generally and historically been open to negotiate with Republicans, but not the other way around, so the best way to end the partisan divide is to vote for people who will truly represent the constituents of their districts and put the people over the party, which is something most Republicans have not been willing to do.

Who is your hero?

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

What are your hobbies?

Canvass for Democrats

What is the most recent book you read?

Get Out The Vote, by Professors Green & Berger

2 wonderful adult children
