What office are you running for?
State Representative, MO HD 105
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
November 3, 2020
Why are you running for office?
I’m running because the system is not working, our government is broken, and I witnessed that firsthand. Costs for everything are up, while pay remains flat. All people in Missouri are not created equal. People who work hard deserve more. I want to change that, to help families in St. Charles County and across Missouri.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The majority party continues to introduce legislation that only works for some, not all of the people. I will sponsor and co sponsor legislation that makes all Missouri residents be able to lead a healthy, happy life, no matter where they live, no matter who they love. I will counter legislation that goes against the people’s vote, I will work to strengthen our public schools, and create jobs. I will keep Women’s issues at the forefront and be a voice for not just my district, but all of Missouri. I will listen.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
Tough one in my state. We have got to start meeting people where they are. There is a better way, that starts with us working for the people, not special interest groups.
Who is your hero?
A woman who started as a boss and became a mentor and friend. I keep her words close. Never expect anyone to do something you wouldn’t do yourself. Don’t be afraid to say something, as long as it is the truth. Those words have served me well and she never fails to fight for the greater good. She truly is an inspiration.
What are your hobbies?
Reading, hiking our parks with my kids, meditation and occasionally binging Netflix.
What is the most recent book you read?
I’m reading Devoted, by Dean Koontz
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
I have three kids; two daughters and a son. Pets, ha! We have two dogs, three cats, two turtles, two rats and a hedgehog. All rescues.
How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
Anyone can get involved by going to my website.
What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
I wish you asked – why now? Because when legislation is hateful and targeted to a specific group of people, and my family falls into one of those group, you jump. I took that leap, because it’s never just one family, and I will be there voice.
