What office are you running for?

State Senate

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

Why are you running for office?

I am running to change the way my state works. The status quo is maintained by insiders that are not connected to the real issues that impact those most impacted by injustice. We need bold and visionary leaders that will think beyond what has been done, and will look to do and create innovative change in how society works for all, but in particular, the most marginalized.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Neighborhoods in my district have some of the nations highest asthma rates and face new projects year after year that will impact their quality of life and health. Assuring the port in Providence does not introduce new pollutants to these communities is a top issue. As a Sunrise Providence Endorsed candidate, I fully support a Green New Deal.

Who is your hero?

Frederick Douglass. He was an early social reformer, leader in the abolitionist movement, and fought for equal rights for all, including slaves, women, and immigrants.

What are your hobbies?

Playing rugby, reading science fiction or fantasy novels, crocheting, and eating donuts

What is the most recent book you read?

Washington Black by Esi Edugyan.

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

I have a Rabbit named Moonlight Mahershala Black Excellence
