What office are you running for?

MO House of Representatives for District 24

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

Why are you running for office?

Change! There are too many attacks on our basic human rights. I’ve always been an activist but now feel it’s time to stand for our community as an elected official and help make the change.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

There are so many issues! My community is pretty progressive, we are pro-choice, pro LGBTIQIA, pro common sense gun control. The issue in my community that is split is education. We need adequate funding for Missouri Schools. I will work on policies that ensure all students have access to a high-quality public education, regardless of race, class, gender or sexual orientation.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

The partisan divide right now is hard. First we need to get a strong positive leader to be the next President. They can start the shift of how we treat our neighbors and be the positive influence we need. After that we need to work on our relationship building, especially if you are in an elected position. It will take some time, as a country we are split at the moment.

Who is your hero?

So many Sheroes! Eleanor Roosevelt, Marsha P Johnson, RBG, Nancy Pelosi, Michelle Obama, Sharice Davids, Elizabeth Warren…the list goes on. I can’t pick one.

What are your hobbies?

When I’m not glued to CSPAN, news, or MoLeg? I’m a graphic designer by trade so I love art! I don’t have the time to paint or draw like I use to but I sill try to visit museums and galleries when I can. I enjoy hikes, nature and yes, I’m a geek. I love comic books and my superheros.

What is the most recent book you read?

I’ve been so busy to keep up with my unending book list, the last book I read was The Power by Naomi Alderman

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

2 rescue dogs Mac and Eleanor (named after Eleanor Roosevelt) and I love my house plants, if they talked they would say “Give us water”, unless my husband is watering then it’s “We’re drowning”

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?

They can sign up to volunteer, follow us on social media and subscribe to our emails!

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?

What organizations are you a part of?
I’m on the board for Women In Politics Foundation, Inc., Greater KC Women’s Political Caucus, a long time volunteer of Planned Parenthood, member of Moms Demand Action, I serve on the policy and summit committee for Climate Action KC, and I was a volunteer and fundraiser coordinator for Missouri Pit Bull Rescue.
