Why are you running for office?

I see health care disparities every single day in my work. I could continue to take care of my six to ten patients a day, or I could change health care for millions in Florida. As a physician it was my interest in expanding medicaid. However my candidacy is focused on more than just expanding health care. It is time for the Florida Legislature to solve issues facing everyday Floridians by supporting public education, bringing common sense to our gun laws, and preparing our community for climate change.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Florida is one of only 13 states in the nation that has not expanded Medicaid. 14% of our population is uninsured and in 2019 Florida was ranked 47th in the nation in access and affordability of health care. Over 800,000 Floridians would gain access to health care if Florida expanded Medicaid. This policy is not just targeted at uninsured Floridians, over 1000 studies on the impacts of Medicaid expansion have been conducted and the vast majority show the positive implications of the policy. It reduces pay-day loan lending, reduces absenteeism at work, reduces the out of pocket costs for those with private insurance, and improves compliance with substance use disorder treatment. My opponent claims that “Medicaid expansion is not the utopia some would make it out to be”, Dr. Enneking says “it may not be utopia, but it is a hell of a lot better than doing nothing”. We must expand Medicaid in Florida.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

Finding common ground and building on solutions that bring us together. There is much more that connects us than divides us.

Who is your hero?

My Pop. He was a world famous surgeon and educator who was most proud of his work on the local school board to get our schools integrated.

What are your hobbies?

Cycling, exercising, gardening, reading, and having fun outside.

What is the most recent book you read?

All Politics is Local by Meaghan Winter

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

Two fabulous grown ups Olivia & Andrew (No grandchildren…yet). Two pups, Cooper and Max.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?

By following us on social media and helping amplify our message we can flip Florida blue like Dems did in Virginia. Telling their friends in North Central Florida to come out and knock doors. By contributing their treasure to help us get our message out.
