Candidate Name:
Elizabeth Hernandez

What office are you running for?
United States House of Representatives TX-8
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
Primary March 3, 2020
Why are you running for office?
I am running because our National Debt is $23 trillion and we are currently running at nearly $1 trillion annual deficits. By last count, Congress has a total of 11 members with accounting backgrounds. Because so many of our issues are fiscal in nature, I want to take my accounting experience to Congress, and help solve this budget crisis. Once we free up resources to address other issues, I have solutions that I want to implement in other areas, such as public education, healthcare reform, civil rights, environmental protection and repairing our infrastructure.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The National Debt is the primary issue I’m running on because I believe that it affects the vast majority of all of the other issues facing my community, and the country as a whole.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
I truly believe that the only way to fix the divide is for the Democrats take control of the Presidency, the House and the Senate by 60 so that our complete platform can be implemented. Then, and only then, can all of America see the benefits of the Democratic platform.
Who is your hero?
Ann Richards
What are your hobbies?
Movies, Poker, Theatre, Painting and Writing.
What is the most recent book you read?
Hunger Games Trilogy
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
3 kids, ages 5, 11 and 14.
How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
Anyone seeking to help on the campaign is encouraged to email me and we can discuss the various ways to help.
What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
What elevates you over your Primary opponent?
The Primary is about electability. I have the education, experience and specific set of ideas that resonate TX-8 residents, and which can legitimately challenge 23-year Congressman Kevin Brady. My opponent, Laura Jones, is a realtor, and her platform lacks the level of detail that I believe is required to motivate voters to go out to the polls and vote Democrat in the numbers that are needed to defeat Kevin Brady and Turn TX-8 Blue.
