Candidate’s Preferred Pronouns

What office are you running for?

Congress, VA-5

With which party are you running for office?

Democratic Party

Election Date

Primary 6/9/2020

Why are you running for office?

To give VA-5 a representative who will fight to mitigate climate change, create thousands of clean energy jobs, and hold Republicans accountable for the corruption endemic in Washington.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?

Climate change impacts our health, economy, and even our lives. I propose a large-scale infrastructure plan for implementing clean energy in Virginia that would switch us over to 100% renewable energy and create tens of thousands of jobs in the state.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?

Focus on issues. Find the issues that people can get behind and offer real solutions that will make their lives better — for instance, infrastrastructure.

Who is your hero?

George Marshall

What are your hobbies?

Community theater, kayaking, hiking, baseball

What is the most recent book you read?

Grant by Ron Chernow

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?

I have two children, a dog, and a cat.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?

Retweets, postcards, donations — everything helps!

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?

Why are you the right choice for this district?
A: I have been fighting for America, both in uniform and in office, for most of my life. I was a Marine colonel, and am the only Democratic candidate for VA-5 with elected experience. You know I will fight for our values in office, because I have already proved myself willing and able to do so.
