What office are you running for?
Texas House 112

With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party

Election Date
November 3, 2020

Why are you running for office?
I am running for office because I am tired of the extremists setting the agenda for Texas. My opponent (who historically has voted with the Freedom Caucus 80% of the time) has not had an competitive opponent since 2008. When I realized this, I knew I had to run. I knew better so I have to do better.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The two biggest issues facing my community are property taxes and lack of accessible healthcare. I plan on tackling both of those with my first priority of expanding medicaid in Texas.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We can fix the divide by talking with each other and not to each other. We must listen to each others cares and concerns so we can understand each other. Additionally, we should focus on what we have in common.

Who is your hero?
So many people. Martin Luther King, Cher (yes, Cher), John Lewis, Oprah. Kim Olson, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, my mom- Vicky Wilcoxen, Elizabeth Caty Staton, Kamala Harris, Hilary Clinton, Michele Obama, Tom Hanks. The list goes on….

What are your hobbies?
Movies and TV, live music, talking politics

What is the most recent book you read?
The Lady in the Lake by Laura Lippman.

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
1 kid- Julia, age 10. 2 cats- Charlie and Mittens. 1 husband- Denny.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
brandykchambers.com— can volunteer to blockwalk, call bank or write postcards.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
My favorite question– Who would you have as your line up at a concert where money or time and space was not an issue. Can only list 5:

  1. Led Zepplin
  2. The Beatles
  3. Jimi Hendrix
  4. Foo Fighters
  5. Stevie Nicks with Foo Fighters as the band.
