Democracy Forum Sunday January 19 in Iowa

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 21: Attendees hold signs and cheer during a rally calling for an end to corporate money in politics and to mark the fifth anniversary of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, at Lafayette Square near the White House, January 21, 2015 in Washington, DC. Wednesday is the fifth anniversary of the landmark ruling, which paved the way for additional campaign money from corporations, unions and other interests and prevented the government from setting limits on corporate political spending. Public Citizen, People for the American Way, Common Cause and several other partners are hosting a democracy forum for Democratic candidates this Sunday, January 19, featuring Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and former Gov. Deval Patrick answering questions on money in politics, voting rights, and ethics in government.

It’s been 10 years since the Supreme Court released its disastrous Citizens United v. FEC decision and let unlimited sums of special interest money into our politics.

And this Sunday in Des Moines, you’ll have the chance to hear directly from Democratic presidential candidates about how they would fix it — and create a democracy that works for all of us, not just big donors.

Please join this special democracy town hall, and hear candidates’ plans to restore balance to our system, protect our right to vote, and make sure public officials are held to the highest ethical standards.

RSVP today for your free ticket to attend this forum >>

To address all the important issues we care about — from lowering the cost of prescription drugs to protecting our climate — we need a democracy that’s responsive and accountable to the American people.

We hope you can join us Sunday (and tell your friends!) for this important event. RSVP here.

P.S. Please help spread the word on Facebook.
