What office are you running for?
US House of Representatives, FL. District 17

With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party

Election Date
November 3, 2020

Why are you running for office?
I want to bring fresh ideas and positive solutions to our government. I am concerned about the issues that matter most to citizens in my district and around the country. I believe that there are workable solutions available that will enhance the quality of life for our seniors, veterans, children and families while creating opportunities for business owners. I would like to see positive outcomes for immigrants, students and Americans living with disabilities. I have a vision that will put us on a new path forward.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
I have the largest Congressional district in the State of Florida. It spans over 9 counties. Each county has its own unique challenges. A couple of the counties are dealing with red tide and toxic blue green algae blooms, which are being fueled by big polluters and global warming. We have counties that are in serious need jobs and housing while other counties have a very high senior population living on fixed incomes that are having a very hard time paying for prescription drugs. As congressman, I will write legislations to bring polluters under control to save our environment and place a cap on prescription drug cost, while working with corporations, contractors and the SBA to bring jobs and housing the those counties that are in need.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
I think we have to be more creative and write policy that doesn’t send people to the opposite ends of the political spectrum. We have to change our way of communication and stop using divisive language in our politics. We have to find the common threads that bind us and start there. We can create an environment working together, but this takes time and it takes dedicated and strategic effort.

Who is your hero?
Harriet Tubman

What are your hobbies?
Web Design, Creative Writing, Photography, Graphic Design and Watching Movies

What is the most recent book you read?
The American Pageant
