Candidate Name: Luke Bohm

What office are you running for?
Indiana State Senate District 5
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
November 3, 2020
Why are you running for office?
I believe we can do better as a state, we rank near the bottom of every major category in the nation and I am running to fix that. We need people who are willing to put their name on paper to move our state forward, and I am willing to do that.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The biggest issue facing our district and communities is good paying jobs, stable jobs, and jobs that will allow for our citizens to not work simply paycheck to paycheck. I would propose business development initiatives that would bring in proper training in clean energy, American manufacturing, and helping small businesses from falling off of main street because of financial mismanagement. We need to help our citizens, not force them into poverty.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
I believe we need to find issues that transcend partisan divide. Many everyday Americans want good paying jobs, good schools, and a way of life that is available to all. We must be willing to work together to move our nation forward, not apart.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
“Why do you love Indiana?”
I love Indiana because it is the state that has given my family every opportunity. From my grandfather being the first in his family of farmers to go to college and be a public school teacher for 35 years in Fort Wayne, to my mother being the owner of many small businesses, to even my father coming here to go to Hanover College as a 23 year old immigrant from Germany with less than $1000 to his name. Indiana is the true land of possibility. And it is my honor to try and represent this amazing state in the Senate.
