What’s the difference between Poll Worker & Poll Watcher?
Poll Worker:
Nonpartisan, Paid (Clerks, Judges, Inspectors, Checker, Precinct Worker)
Poll Watcher:
Partisan, Volunteer (Observers, Monitors, Challengers)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To be a poll worker (Poll Managers) You must be 18+, registered to vote in Mississippi, resident of the county, complete required training. Students 16+ who are enrolled in high school & have residency in the county or municipality may work with recommendation from the principal. $75 To sign up, contact your local board of elections.
HOW POLL WORKERS ARE CHOSEN:
In general and special elections, the county elections commission appoints the poll managers and designates the roles. Managers of general or special elections cannot all be of same political party. In primary elections, they can be. At least 21 days before election, the officials in charge of the elections appoint someone to instruct in the use of voting machines.

POLL WATCHER INFO:
Each candidate on the ballot shall have the right, either in person or by a credentialed poll watcher, to be present at the polling place. In general and special elections, each political party that has a candidate on the ballot shall have the right to be represented at the polling place by 2 credentialed poll watchers. A credentialed poll watcher means a poll watcher of good conduct and behavior, authorized in writing to act as the representative of a candidate on the ballot or political party that has a candidate on the ballot.
Who is Authorized to Challenge a Voter’s Eligibility on Election Day?
The following persons shall be designated as authorized challengers and shall be allowed to challenge the qualifications of any person offering to vote (a) any candidate whose name is on the ballot in the precinct in which the challenge is made; (b) any official poll watcher of a candidate whose name is on the ballot in the precinct in which the challenge is made; (c) any official poll watcher of a political party for the precinct in which the challenge is made; (d) any qualified elector from the precinct in which the challenge is made; or (e) any manager, clerk or poll worker in the polling place where the person whose qualifications are challenged is offering to vote.
