US Congress TX 31

Democratic Party

Election Date

Why are you running for office?
I’ve spent decades as a family practice doctor watching as my patients suffered due to lack of coverage, and pushing back against insurance and pharmaceutical companies who were denying care. I want to go to Congress to fight on behalf of all of my constituents just as I have for my patients over the last 20 years.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Leveling the playing field so that all can achieve success. We do this by elevating the voices of the underserved and underrepresented, and centering their voices in policy making.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
Listen to opposing opinions then use persuasion to find solutions, never letting go of our values or compromising away people’s rights.

Who is your hero?
Ruth Bader Ginsberg

What are your hobbies?
Running, reading, gardening

What is the most recent book you read?
A Framework for Understanding Poverty by Ruby Payne

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
3 kids, daughter Taryn and sons Taylor and Ty.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
Why can I win?
Because my team and I have worked on 37 political campaigns between us, have done a decade of organizing work in Central Texas and have spent the last 3 years running this race and laying the groundwork to flip the seat.
