What office are you running for?
North Carolina Congressional District 13

With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party

Election Date
11/3/2020

Why are you running for office?
Because the Working Class and Middle Class are not represented in Washington DC.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Health Care & Prescription Drug Costs, Jobs, Public Education

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
That’s a tough one. Over the last 30+ years, Republicans have moved further and further to the right. Gerrymandering in my state of North Carolina has increased the divide. When one party is able to hold onto power without having to work together with the other side, the divide worsens. Until laws protect the right to vote. Restrict one party from picking our politicians instead of the voters, this will continue. However, if I am elected, I will make sure that I stay in touch with Voters in my District on a regular basis. I will create an mobile app for all registered voters. I will use it to push information to everyone that signs up to use the app. For those who follow, they can vote on the bills in House that I will have to vote on. I will share with them info on any particular bill. Let them know what I think it will do to help our district and nation. They can vote yes or no. They get to vote more than once every two years. I believe this will increase engagement and support of our democracy. I won’t be that public servant who goes to D.C. and forgets about where they came from.

Who is your hero?
My single MOM who raised 3 kids working as a Truck – Stop waitress for tips.

What are your hobbies?
Tech, my kids, flying my drone.

What is the most recent book you read?
I’m reading Colonel Roosevelt by Edmund Morris.

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
Three children, a cat and dog. I do plant a garden every year to grow veggies.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
I’m not accepting Corporate Pac donations. So, donations would be great. My republican opponent already has 1 million in Corporate Pac donations. Go to my website and volunteer.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
Did you ever see yourself running for congress?
No, I didn’t. I was just that mild mannered nerd working on my client PC’s keeping the Russians out. It was when my 10 yr old going on 11 yr old, daughter; Wyleigh was concerned about her friends in school. She attends an international school and her friends are different faiths, color and identity.  She was worried that she would be grabbed in school or bullied.  As a Dad, you want to protect your little girl. I told her not to worry.  I started an Indivisible group and shortly thereafter I became an officer in the local Democratic party.  Our Indivisible Charlotte held rallies, marches, raised billboards and worked to make a difference. It was that activist work that led me to run for office.  The working class who have built America are not being heard.  Holding rallies at their offices made it clear.  They may hear us.  They just choose to ignore us.  They can’t ignore us when we sit in that seat at the table.
