What office are you running for?
Mayor of Monrovia, California

With which party are you running for office?
Non-partisan Election

Election Date

Why are you running for office?
I am running because I am a strong leader and I believe it is time for our town’s leaders to reflect our community. Our current mayor has been in place since 2015, and has been a member of city council since 1999. He is not inclusive nor does he understand the issues residents are facing.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Affordable Housing. As Mayor, I will:

  1. Partner with existing community initiatives on Health, Wellness, and Aging.
  2. Expand Monrovia’s affordable housing through the creation of Inclusionary Zoning for Affordable Housing programs with requirements that exceed the current standards for affordable rental units or for-sale units.
  3. Develop programs to address both chronic homelessness and second wave homelessness due to lack of housing.
  4. Expand behavioral health awareness training for first responders and City departments that have direct contact with the public.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We have to remember that at the end of the day, we are all people. And we all have different backgrounds. We cannot rely on the mentality of well I did this and it turned out fine. Empathy will go a long way in helping our mission.

Who is your hero?
Hillary Clinton

What are your hobbies?
Reading historical fiction and fiction, running, activism.

What is the most recent book you read?
Rebecca, Ordinary Grace, White Trash: The 400 year Untold History of Class in America

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
Two daughters (5 and 3) and two dogs.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
They can join our digital platform and spread the word. Once my donation link is up I will also be accepting donations.

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
If you could have dinner with three people who would they be:
Michelle Obama, Tina Fey, and Kristin Wigg.
