Candidate Name: Lisa Reynolds

What office are you running for?
State Representative, Oregon House District 36
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
Primary 5/19/2020
Why are you running for office?
As a pediatrician for more than 20 years, I have seen first hand the challenges faced by Oregon families. As an activist on gun violence prevention, I’ve learned how to make policy in Salem. These experiences will allow me to do more for Oregonians than I can accomplish in the exam room.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Houselessnes – continued work on affordable supportive housing. Child mental health challenges – using the Student Success Act to improve access to mental health services in our schools. Gun violence – make sure Oregon passes a law that requires that guns be locked when not in use.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
I do believe more one on one conversations can make a big difference. I meet with families from all walks of life in my practice, and it’s clear we can (and do) work together to help the sick or scared child get well again. We are more alike than we are different.
Who is your hero?
Michelle Obama
What are your hobbies?
Reading, hiking, swimming
What is the most recent book you read?
A Better Man, by Louise Penny
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
