Candidate Name: Aryanna Islam

What office are you running for?
West Virginia House of Delegates, District 50
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
May 13, 2020 – Democratic Primary
Why are you running for office?Â
The most prevalent reason I’m running is because I don’t want to leave. I love West Virginia and it breaks my heart to see it in the shape it’s in. Everyone here has felt the pain of addiction, whether or not you are the addict. Everyone has felt the pain of struggling to make ends meet and making sacrifices that you shouldn’t have had to make. Everyone has felt the pain of seeing poverty here and the state slowly deteriorate. It hurts us all. Far too many people young and old alike have to leave the state, through no fault of their own, and its time to stop the bleeding.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Addiction is the most encompassing issue in Marion County. It affects each and every family. We need to listen to those who are most affected which means those struggling with the disease, the family members they affect, and experts in recovery. I want to give them the opportunity to be at the forefront of the legislation and efforts regarding solving the addiction crisis.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy solves Rubik’s Cube puzzles and studying maps.
