What office are you running for?
Oregon State Representative House District 50

With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party

Election Date
May 19, 2020

Why are you running for office?
I am running for State Representative to continue the advocacy for education resources, housing affordability, keeping our families together, public safety, healthcare accessibility, environmental justice, and improving the quality of life for our Gresham and East County Residents. I am determined to represent my home city and work to be a strong voice for all. It’s time for a new generation to lead and bring what really matters to our community to the capitol. No decision about us – Without us.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
The biggest issues facing our community consist of housing, food, and safety insecurities. Housing affordability is a must in order to keep our residents safe in their homes without worrying about paying more and stressing how to meet ends meets. In house district 50, the neighborhood of Rockwood is one of the most underserved areas in the Portland Metro Area. There is only 1 chain grocery store for a neighborhood with over 30,000 residents. Rockwood is a food desert. Public safety issues have been rising in the last couple of months. Car thefts, house break ins, property theft, amongst more is worrysome to our residents.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We need to put our differences aside and really focus on how to best serve our constituents. Common conversations and understanding each other without disrespecting one another is a start.

Who is your hero?
My mother. She has taught me to remind humble and stay strong to my roots.

What are your hobbies?
I love watching soccer, reading books, and train brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to relieve stress.

What is the most recent book you read?
“So you want to talk about Race?” – Ijeoma Oluo

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
I have a 3 year old dog named Rocky and have about 15 plants in my house to help keep clean oxygen levels in the household.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
Like a former professor would say, “Get Educated – meaning educate yourself about what issues you are passionate about. Get Mad – Build the momentum and find ways to engage what matters to you and your community. Get loud – Find a platform and make a change” Visit our campaign website at or

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
Why are campaigns for local offices (county and city) important?
How important is mental health in the decisions we make? – Very important. Trauma, stress, depression, and among many more mental health experiences are on the rise in our communities. We must contribute mental health resources and heal wounds that just keep on growing.
