Candidate Name: Regina Marston

What office are you running for?
Congressional District CA 42
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
March 3, 2020
Why are you running for office?
Ken Calvert, the GOP representative in the district is a career politician who was named one of Congress’ Most Corrupt Members in 2009. He hasn’t had a town hall in 10 years. When I called his DC office, they told me “We don’t need to hold town halls, Regina. Ken knows what his voters’ needs are. Stop calling.” So, ‘I’m running.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
We have a huge infrastructure issue in our district and we need coordinated efforts between local, state, and federal governments to meet the highway and water needs we have. I will create a taskforce of leaders from all the cities and the state to work together to create a blueprint for meeting our infrastructure needs. We also have a problem with air quality. We cannot allow the emissions standards to be rolled back to pre-Obama levels. I will fight in Congress to stop the attack on CA’s energy policies which are designed to protect our air quality.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
The media must play a larger role in calling out the lies coming out of the administration and telling the public NOT to believe what they are hearing on social media. The concept of social media is good, but it has shown itself to be too easily manipulated by “bad actors.” When people are stuck in their echo chambers, they don’t believe what the “other side” is saying. Professional broadcasters and media owners need to take the lead in telling the American people the truth and not worry about getting access to politicians for ratings.
