Candidate Name: Russ Cirincione
What office are you running for?
U.S. House of Representatives, New Jersey 6th District
With which party are you running for office?
06/02/2020 – Democratic Primary
Why are you running for office?
I’m running for many reasons, but most importantly, my son’s future is at stake. The way we deal with the climate crisis today, will shape the world he lives in. I’m running to fulfill a promise I made to him the first time I held him in my arms – that I’d do whatever it takes to make sure his future is bright and filled with opportunity. We face multiple crises in this country, and we must address them now and champion causes for the 99%.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Rising sea levels and climate crisis threatens our Jersey Shore. Our homes will experience flood levels by 2035. Our tourism industry is threatened. This is the time to address the climate crisis, today. I support the Green New Deal and creating millions of jobs in this country by going 100% renewable energy by 2030, to clean up the world we live in.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We must address the issues we face, head on, and make sure we guarantee a high standard of living for all people in this country. We must end the squeeze of the working people in this country, that’s bleeding us dry. We face an income inequality crisis at its worst levels, ever. We face a housing crisis, a student loan crisis, a healthcare crisis. We must stand up for the 99%.
Who is your hero?
What are your hobbies?
I play the drums! And I play basketball.
What is the most recent book you read?
We’ve Got People by Ryan Grim.
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
I have a two year old son, and we have three cats!
