Why are you running for office?
Eddie Mauro has been active in community service, activism, and organizing; fighting for social, economic and environmental justice for many years. In the midst of that work, Eddie was a teacher and championship coach, built a successful business that reaches into all 99 Iowa counties and raised a family with his wife Sharilyn.

He and his wife have shared 29 years together and have two children, Dominic and Mia. Eddie has deep roots in Iowa having spent years living or working in Carroll, Boone, Indianola, Seymour, Centerville and Des Moines.

Eddie is someone who listens, quickly understands a challenge and jumps in ready to get to work. He doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk.

Now Eddie hopes to cross the road into public life, public service – the privilege and honor of serving this country in the US Senate.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Climate change is issue #1, #2 and #3 after we get the $$ out of our politics that is preventing transformative action on climate. See website for details.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
Getting corporate money out of our politics, putting power back in the hands of the people, and limiting the impact of entrenched leadership PACs are the first steps towards fixing our democratic institutions and getting people working together.

Robert Kennedy

What are your hobbies?
Eddie is a former school teacher and high school baseball coach. Watching a ballgame is one of his favorite things to do.

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
Two grown children – Dominick and Mia, and a dog. But no, I have no Audrey II
