Candidate Name: Tyler Wilson

What office are you running for?
County Commissioner for District 1, Douglas County, Nebraska
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
May 2020
Why are you running for office?
I am running for office to bring a fresh new voice to the table. We need to make government more accessible to the masses and make government work for the people.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Our local government has lost focus on providing a comprehensive government that works for its citizens. My solution for that is to bring citizens on board and make decisions based on input from citizens.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
Bi-partisanship is the backbone of government, we need to get corporate greed out of politics and start working for the people.
Who is your hero?
My hero, as cliche as it sounds, is my mom. She is my number one fan. She has taught me so much being middle class family and being a single mom for most of my adolescent life. No matter the challenge she always tackles it head on and with a smile!
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy community activism and being social with friends and family. I’m also a Nebraskan so college football is a Saturday ritual!
What is the most recent book you read?
I’m re-reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” it’s a book that we all ready in school and every since then it has always made an impact on me.
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
No kids, yet. No pets, and no talking plants.

Other top priorities? Investing in adaptation policy, ending the trade war with China and helping support family farmers, increasing access to rural broadband and rural hospitals, and encouraging investment in our community so that everyone can have access to great jobs that pay a living wage.
