Candidate Name: Steve Woodsmall

What office are you running for?
US House of Representatives NC-11
With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party
Election Date
2020
Why are you running for office?
I learned early in my Air Force career that if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. We have huge problems in DC, and I want to be part of the solution.
What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
I want to get the big money out of politics. I support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. Your representatives should be concerned about those they represent– not the multi-millionaire donors and corporation PACs that control our economy and our political system.
How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We must work toward the BEST solution, not a Democratic or Republican solution. The time for partisan politics is over—we have real problems to solve. Public servants must be held to the oath of office to support and defend the constitution of the United States. I took a similar oath as an officer in the United States Air Force, and we need that same level of commitment from our elected officials. The only people who can fix our system are the insiders who benefit from it—we need representatives who prioritize people and country over party.
Who is your hero?
Abraham Lincoln
What are your hobbies?
Golf, Guitar, basketball officiating
What is the most recent book you read?
Currently reading “Democracy in Chains.”
Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
6 kids all adult, 2 Shih-Tzus, and a cat
