Meet the Candidate: Elad Gross (Missouri)

4 mins read

Candidate Name: Elad Gross

What office are you running for?
Attorney General of Missouri

With which party are you running for office?
Democratic Party

Election Date

Why are you running for office?
We need an Attorney General who protects the rights of the people, not the money of the powerful. I’m running to prosecute public corruption, bring accountability back to our state, fight dark money and big money in our politics, and get a government that represents us.

What is the biggest issue facing your community and how do you propose helping?
Our government does not serve us. It serves people with a lot of money and power. We have proposed several plans to make our state work, including combating scam phone calls, upholding our civil rights, taking on irresponsible corporate farms, and preventing violence in our neighborhoods before it starts.

But all of these issues have a common link: Our democracy is broken. That’s why we are going to start by prosecuting corruption and making the Attorney General’s Office a watchdog within our government again. Both as a candidate and as Attorney General, I will show up, listen, and always include the community. We need an Attorney General who works for us.

How do we fix the partisan divide in our country and start working together again?
We need to show up, listen, and empower the people to get involved in our government. I work with Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, folks in between, and folks who haven’t been involved before. We all know we need a government that works, and, if we take just a moment, we realize how many challenges and ideas we share in common. We can accomplish much more if we focus on the areas of agreement instead of letting those in power keep us divided.

So far in this campaign, I have traveled more than the circumference of Earth just in Missouri. We’ve participated in more than 220 meetings. We’re here for the people, and we’re leaving no one behind. We’re earning trust. That’s how we get our country working again.

Who is your hero?
Kaaliyah. She is one of my students, and she’s going to be the President of the United States one day.

What are your hobbies?
Fixing government, enforcing Missouri’s Sunshine Law, weightlifting, and rugby.

What is the most recent book you read?”
Bleeding Out” by Thomas Abt

Do you have any kids/pets/talking houseplants?
I have many kids because I’ve been teaching for 13 years. My weightlifting partner is Toby (my rescue dog), and my in-house exterminators are Shibby and GreyOne, my two rescue cats. After a wedding in December 2019, I will also welcome LadyBird, Flop, and Ninotchka to the family.

I don’t do talking plants. I eat too many of them.

How can our readers get involved in your campaign?
You can go to, email me at, or text or call me at 314-753-9033!

What question do you wish we’d asked, and what is your answer?
Question: What is your proudest culinary feat? Answer: Making it onto the Wall of Flame at Sawadee Thai in Jefferson City or winning the office Cookie Bake-Off my last week as an Assistant Attorney General of Missouri.
